My First OOTD!

I am excited to be posting my very first OOTD! It is an outfit suitable for charity shopping and lunching with my man and getting my haircut.

Hat - Made by my mans friends Mum, Jacket - Beth Ditto for Evans (collection one), sheer shirt - charity shop, body - ASOS Curve, leggings - very old Newlook Inspire, fringed socks - Primark, shoes - River Island, Bag - Vivienne Westwood.

I love finding things in charity shops but it isn't something that happens to me often as I find there aren't too many plus size charity shop donations on the whole, so this shirt was a very pleasant surprise! It's so comfortable and versatile and even though it's sheer it is super warm, so more suitable for slightly colder weather. This hat is a god send to me because I don't suit a great deal of hats as I have a gigantic head but this one keeps my hair perfectly in place on those insanely windy days (one of the draw backs of living on an Island) and doesn't make me look ridiculous!

I've also never worn a body before but this one was donated to me by a friend and it fits shockingly well! It's really comfortable and thankfully easy to do up and undo for when nature calls.

Finally, I love these shoes. With all my heart. They are so comfortable it's unreal and can be dressed up or down depending on the outfit and occasion!

To finish, here is my delicious lunch from today - a New York style steak sandwich (medium rare) with fried onions, mustard mayonnaise and Emmental cheese and a divine little Dark Chocolate & Peanut Artisan flapjack I purchased at Penarth's tiny farmers market!

A Romantic Dinner For Two

Last night my darling man and I went out for a beautiful romantic dinner at our favourite restaurant, Guiliano's on Barry Island. It's a family run Italian that serves the best gourmet food, all local produce and it is just divine! It also gave me the perfect excuse to dress up!

Jacket - Beth Ditto for Evans (her first collection), Dress - ASOS Curve, Tights - Evans, Shoes - River Island, Bag - Vivienne Westwood, Lipstick - Barry M.

I adore this dress! It is such a flattering, comfortable but also sexy material, it is the perfect leg length and it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion!

Nail Varnish - Nails Inc, Spiral Ring - Primark, Heart Ring - Urban Outfitters.

I am absolutely obsessed with nail varnish and painting my nails (I plan to write a post on my favourite polishes at a later date!). This Nails Inc Polish is absolutely amazing, the shade is Picadilly Circus and it's a very dark pink that looks almost burgundy and the quality of the polish is incredible! It goes on so smooth and dries flawlessly and quickly! I use a Rimmel topcoat that I find is better than a lot of the expensive top coats I've tried over the years!

Jacket - Charity Shop, Shirt - Charity Shop, Slacks - Peacocks, Boots - Charity Shop.

My man is the ultimate bargain finder. He picks up the most insane bargains in charity shops! This jacket for example is a Baracuta Harrington and sells for £90, my man found it for £5 and it still had the tags on! He is so effortlessly stylish and I just adore every single thing about him.

Here is a close up of my face for the evening! As per my previous blog post this is my usual makeup routine with a little lipstick added to mix things up! People say redheads can't wear pink but it all depends on the shade! Never say never!

And for those of ya'll that were wondering what I had to eat! I absolutely stuffed my face haha and it was divine! Deep fried calamari with homemade chilli mayonnaise, swordfish steak with Provencale sauce, carrots, brocolli and homemade chipped potatoes and then a caramel torte to finish! Glorious!

Casual Saturday, Face & All

I am very excited to be writing my second blog post! I don't know if any of you out there have seen Julie & Julia but I watched it recently with my boyfriend and although it isn't about fashion blogging, or fashion at all, it is about how blogging changed her life for the better and have her a purpose (it is also jam packed full of divine French food - a fat girls dream haha)! It made me feel even more inspired to keep mine updated! If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it!

Anyway - back to fashion! This weekend I am enjoying a quiet weekend with my man. Yesterday we nipped to Barry town to have a browse in the charity shops and here was my chosen outfit;

Denim Waistcoat - Newlook, Felt Fox Badge - Gift, Dress - Newlook Inspire, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Socks - Primark, Shoes - Asda, Bag - Vivenne Westwood.

Firstly I would like to apologise in advance for the fact that my Viv will no doubt feature in 99% of my posts as it is my prize possession haha. Anyway, I love this dress, it is so comfortable and such a flattering cut - perfect for casual days. I'm not usually keen on wearing denim as I feel it makes me look a little butch but this waistcoat is really forgiving due to the soft acid wash!

I really enjoy finding cute items of clothing/accessories/shoes for bargain prices, there are very few items in my wardrobe that were noteably expensive. I hope, over time as my blog goes on, that I can prove you can dress however you like even on a budget.

Now, I've seen a few bloggers posting their makeup routines so I have decided to get involved!

Firstly, my skin;

Blusher brush - H&M, Bronzer - 17, Highlighter - Benefit, Cool Fix BB Cream - √Čtude House, Blotting Powder - MAC.

Being a redhead, I am literally as pale as they come. My blotting powder is in the lightest shade MAC sell, which is basically transparent haha. I used the highlighter over my cheekbones and eyelids and I find it really brightens my face. HD √Čtude House are a Korean brand that I was introduced to through my friend from Hong Kong and now I've tried it I will NEVER go back - they sell a lot of different varieties but I went for the Cool Fix in 'Light' which supposedly stays even through any temperatures and it really does!

As with my clothes, I don't own a huge amount of expensive makeup, just key pieces but that doesn't mean I can't achieve the look I love!

Eyeshadow Palette - MUA, Angled Brush and Eyebrow Brush - Boots, Eyebrow Pencil - Collection 2000.

I cringe when I look back at photos of myself before I had discovered brow defining makeup! I have eyebrows but they are so pale when they aren't filled in they look non-existent. I find a lot of the eyebrow products marketed as 'blonde' have a reddy tinge so working with that as an outline, I then use a red tinged bronze eyeshadow to fill in my brows.

Kohl Eyeliner - Rimmel, Liquid Eyeliner - GOSH, Mascara - Technic (a gift).

I love love love winged eyeliner, it is my look of choice and overtime I have managed to find a technique that works for me which really just involved a lot of practice over the years haha. I absolutely swear by this Rimmel eyeliner, it is black black and I never have any smudging issues and the same goes for the GOSH liquid liner, it does not budge!

I only tend to wear lipstick on 'special occasions' so for everyday stuff, I swear by a good lip balm. If you haven't checked out the EOS lip balms, do it! This is the Honeydew Melon favoured ball and not only does it smell amazing, my lips are soft soft soft!

The Final Result;

And voila! The final result! My freckles are just dying off now after their boom over the summer but I don't mind them too much!

Sorry for the lengthly post but I wanted to get all of this in haha!

An Exciting New Beginning!

My name is Kate London-James. I live on Barry Island in South Wales with my wonderful man and I am a UK size 24. After discovering the incredible plus size fashion community on Instagram, I finally feel inspired enough to start my own blog.

I originally started this blog in 2010, but I became disheartened with blogging and slowly fell out of love with it, however, as above, my inspiration has been reawakened so all my old posts have been removed and I am starting afresh.

Therefore after much deliberation and the occasional request, I have decided to stop procrastinating and get down to it!

Above - dress & shoes - ASOS, tights - Evans, bag - Vivienne Westwood, lipstick - Barry M.

In this blog I want I include a little slice of everything I adore - fashion, beauty, tattoos, food and all manner of other things but I want to primarily focus on the fashion side of things and my style, in particular, things that make me feel fabulous!

I currently do not have a computer at home, so 99.9% of my posts will be written via my iPhone so I would like to apologise in advance if they are of a dodgy quality haha!

Above - dress - Miss Real Curve for Newlook, tights - Evans, bag - Dorothy Perkins.

I am feeling incredibly excited about this new venture and I really hope y'all will watch this space as my next post will be coming very very soon!

Lots of Love,
