I am very excited to be writing my second blog post! I don't know if any of you out there have seen Julie & Julia but I watched it recently with my boyfriend and although it isn't about fashion blogging, or fashion at all, it is about how blogging changed her life for the better and have her a purpose (it is also jam packed full of divine French food - a fat girls dream haha)! It made me feel even more inspired to keep mine updated! If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it!
Anyway - back to fashion! This weekend I am enjoying a quiet weekend with my man. Yesterday we nipped to Barry town to have a browse in the charity shops and here was my chosen outfit;
Denim Waistcoat - Newlook, Felt Fox Badge - Gift, Dress - Newlook Inspire, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Socks - Primark, Shoes - Asda, Bag - Vivenne Westwood.
Firstly I would like to apologise in advance for the fact that my Viv will no doubt feature in 99% of my posts as it is my prize possession haha. Anyway, I love this dress, it is so comfortable and such a flattering cut - perfect for casual days. I'm not usually keen on wearing denim as I feel it makes me look a little butch but this waistcoat is really forgiving due to the soft acid wash!
I really enjoy finding cute items of clothing/accessories/shoes for bargain prices, there are very few items in my wardrobe that were noteably expensive. I hope, over time as my blog goes on, that I can prove you can dress however you like even on a budget.
Now, I've seen a few bloggers posting their makeup routines so I have decided to get involved!
Firstly, my skin;
Blusher brush - H&M, Bronzer - 17, Highlighter - Benefit, Cool Fix BB Cream - Étude House, Blotting Powder - MAC.
Being a redhead, I am literally as pale as they come. My blotting powder is in the lightest shade MAC sell, which is basically transparent haha. I used the highlighter over my cheekbones and eyelids and I find it really brightens my face. HD Étude House are a Korean brand that I was introduced to through my friend from Hong Kong and now I've tried it I will NEVER go back - they sell a lot of different varieties but I went for the Cool Fix in 'Light' which supposedly stays even through any temperatures and it really does!
As with my clothes, I don't own a huge amount of expensive makeup, just key pieces but that doesn't mean I can't achieve the look I love!
Eyeshadow Palette - MUA, Angled Brush and Eyebrow Brush - Boots, Eyebrow Pencil - Collection 2000.
I cringe when I look back at photos of myself before I had discovered brow defining makeup! I have eyebrows but they are so pale when they aren't filled in they look non-existent. I find a lot of the eyebrow products marketed as 'blonde' have a reddy tinge so working with that as an outline, I then use a red tinged bronze eyeshadow to fill in my brows.
Kohl Eyeliner - Rimmel, Liquid Eyeliner - GOSH, Mascara - Technic (a gift).
I love love love winged eyeliner, it is my look of choice and overtime I have managed to find a technique that works for me which really just involved a lot of practice over the years haha. I absolutely swear by this Rimmel eyeliner, it is black black and I never have any smudging issues and the same goes for the GOSH liquid liner, it does not budge!
I only tend to wear lipstick on 'special occasions' so for everyday stuff, I swear by a good lip balm. If you haven't checked out the EOS lip balms, do it! This is the Honeydew Melon favoured ball and not only does it smell amazing, my lips are soft soft soft!
The Final Result;
