A Lawless Fight

This weekend gone, my wonderful man and I decided to have a date day. We made our way to Newport for a day of delicious food, amazing charity shops and record store splurges!

Dress - ASOS Curve, Kimono - ASOS Curve, Tights - Evans, Shoes - River Island, Bag - Primark, Sunglasses and Scrunchie - Urban Outfitters.

Now I won't bore you all by reviewing these items again as they've all featured in previous posts but they are two of my favourite clothing items ever! The dress is so comfortable, it can be dressy or casual and I adore how it fits my figure! The kimono is such a fun alternative to a cardigan and adds a quirky twist to any outfit!

This lipstick is my new favourite. It was £3.99 from H&M and it's Timeless Plum from their Matte Collection. It goes on so smoothly, has a gorgeous matte finish, lasts really well (even when eating and drinking) and it smells like berries! The range has a variety of colours available but this was my choice and I am very glad I opted for this. I cannot get enough of dark lip colour at the moment!

I'm not sure if it's the fact I stopped using Illamasqua Skin Base (it did nothing for my skin but make it spotty and greasy) or the new skin products I've been using but my skin has been 80% less oily recently than it used to be, which makes me incredibly happy! I went into Boots in a rush and picked up a skin product that claimed to help oily skin prone to breakouts. When I got home, I had a proper look at it and realised it was a skin product for men!

I initially bought the scrub (by accident) but after a week or so of using it, I was so impressed I went back and bought the gel face wash! I now use the scrub and wash on alternate days and my skin really has never been better - thank you Garnier for men!

As well as my skin, I have seen a huge improvement in my nails since I decided to give them a break from nail varnish.  They had gotten quite stained from intensive nail varnish wearing - so I wore stick on false nails for a few weeks to allow them to grow a little, filed and buffed them and have just used a Nail Nurse topcoat from Rimmel to protect them - I had been neglecting them for far too long!

It was so nice to spend a day with my man, doing fun things and eating delicious treats. Look how handsome he is and here is the incredible food we ate at The Secret Garden Cafe in Newport;

Gammon and egg and then a shared plate of hot Belgian waffles for dessert!

I also made a gorgeous new friend! His name is Gizmo and he is a 2 year old Shih Tzu who had just had a haircut! He sat on my lap and gave me little smooches and climbed on my boobs a lot. I didn't want to give him back! He was so adorable!

But I have to say, I think the highlight of my day was bagging this incredible limited edition vinyl! It's the soundtrack to the movie Lawless (an incredible film I cannot recommend enough, adapted for screen by my 2nd favourite man on the planet - Nick Cave) and it sounds even better on vinyl than I could have hoped! There is something about a fiddle that is made even more glorious by the slightly scratchy, dusty quality you can't get other than on a record!

Well, this was a post including a little bit of everything but it was a very lovely day!

Baby Shower Loveliness

Where I work, everyone is pregnant! Well, that might be a slight exaggeration, but, it seems we are a very fertile office! Last Sunday I went to my first baby shower for one of the lovely pregnant ladies that I work with and i had no idea what to expect, or what to wear!

Dress - Simply Be, Tights - Evans, Shoes - River Island, Necklace - Newlook.

In the end I decided that it is always better to be overdressed, than underdressed so I went with this gorgeous floaty, 50's-esque dress from Simply Be. It is so beautiful, comfortable and makes me feel ever so fabulous. The top and skirt are both lined, but with a gorgeous light weight silky material so it isn't too hot or heavy. The skirt has a cute tie that fastens at the back (I sadly forgot to get a photograph of this, sorry!) and this can be worn as tight or loose as you like! I love the attention that the two tone top and bottom draws to my waist and the skirt is a perfect length to give that flirty 50's look!

My lipstick is Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in 'The Redder The Better' and I absolutely love it! There seems to be a huge sudden trend for lip crayons and balms and this one is a massive recommendation! It's so easily to apply, the colour is gorgeous and vibrant and it lasts really well, even when eating and drinking! I'm not overly keen on gloss finish lipsticks so the face this also has a gorgeous matte finish means it has quickly became a regular wear for me!

I had such a lovely afternoon at the baby shower too. Seeing as it was my first, I had no idea what it would be like but we played lots of cute baby related games, ate lots of delicious food (her Nana made the best trifle I have ever tasted) and I even won some adorable prizes!

The lovely ladies little girl is due in a few weeks and I can only imagine how excited/terrified she must be haha!

A Baseball Jersey For Me

Lately, I have been terrible at blogging and I would like to apologise for my little absence! Over the last month or so we have been absolutely manic busy, but today I am finally able to sit down and write a little post about one of my most recent purchases.

Baseball Jersey Dress - ASOS Curve, Scarf - Peacocks, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Socks - Primark, Shoes - Deichmann, Bag - Primark, Hat - Handmade gift.

I really struggle to find casual outfits I like! I'm not a casual person style wise and absolutely any chance to dress up, I will brace with open arms! But this jersey dress has changed me! It is so simple, soft, comfortable and casual! I could literally live in it. I bought it 2 sizes bigger than I would normally wear because I wanted it as roomy and slack as possible. It's an amazing length, fit and shape (as I was a little worried it might be a little sack-like) - I would recommend everyone pick one up for lazy Saturdays such as today!

A few years ago I invested in a pair of plain black Vans, exactly the same style-wise as the shoes I had on today and I wore them until they fell apart. When I saw these in Deichmann for £13.99 I thought, why not! I need a new pair of comfortable, everyday shoes and even though they are, essentially, just Vans rip offs, they are perfect for what I want them for. They may not last years but I am very, very pleased with them for the bargain price of £13.99!

Speaking of bargains, I grabbed this gorgeous daisy print scarf from Peacocks for £5! It's so soft and although it doesn't look it, is surprisingly warm! It can also add a little flourish to any plain coloured outfit.

I really love this little blue bobble hat too - it was knitted for my boyfriend by one of his friends Mum's as a gift and I've nabbed it for excessively windy days such as today. It's super stretchy (so even fits my giant bonce) and a really cute colour!

I have recently started wearing false nails again! For years I had acrylics done and they did destroy my nails, so I didn't want to go back to those. But I got a set of 48 plain press on falsies from Superdrug for £4 and they're amazing! I bought a stronger, brush on nail glue to use with them instead of the glue they came with which has made a massive difference! I can paint them any colour I want, keep the sets to use at a later date, keep my own nails in good condition and they don't break the bank! On this set I've used Models Own Hyper Gel in Red Lustre with a Leighton Denny speckled topcoat.

To finish this post I thought you all might like to see my Saturday whim bake! A Victoria Sponge with fresh cream instead of buttercream (as I don't like buttercream)! I made this wearing a pinny, listening to Dolly Parton on vinyl and it was amazing haha.
