Charity Shop Spots

No one loves a charity shop bargain more than my man. He has the most amazing eye for finding awesome items in charity shops whereas I just don't have the patience! So when he finds me something, I could not be more pleased!

T shirt - Charity Shop, Skirt - Charity Shop, Shoes - Newlook (Wide Fit), Duster Jacket - Newlook Inspire.

I love love love this t shirt and skirt. The t shirt is a super soft, silky material that feels lovely on and the small polka dot print is adorable! I don't know if it's meant to sit as a crop, but due to my massive boobs it does and I love it haha! This skirt has a classic, simple elasticated waist and a sharp pleat - it falls beautifully and is really flattering (and it is absolutely something you would find in your Grandma's wardrobe)!

I have been after a duster jacket for a long time and this delightful number from Newlook Inspire is perfect. It would be great for work, as I'm not a fan of tailored blazers, but could still wear this and look smart and it's also great for out of work outfits like this! It has a great oversized fit so you could easily size down but I went for my usual size as I liked the fall off this sizing particularly.

These shoes were £5 in the Newlook sale. £5!!! They're a great staple to have in your footwear collection as you can never go wrong with a pair of patent black flats. They have a cut out section on the inside that adds a nice twist to a classic shoe. I would totally recommend getting yourself down to your local Newlook or checking out their website as their sales are always full of bargains!

Also I have a new haircut! I'm basically bald, but I like it and it's going to last me, which is always a good thing. If you're fat and unsure as to whether you could rock short hair my advice would always be, just do it! Embrace it and wear it with confidence. I'm so bored of this 'dress to flatter', 'find the haircut to suit your face shape' business - fashion and beauty is about what YOU want to wear and what YOU want to rock. That's the most important thing to remember. Just like Jessie J said 'show em' you're a sexy lady'!

finished this outfit with a swipe of my favourite ever MAC lipstick, Lady Danger.

Anyone Who Had A Heart

As my man has left the UK behind for Portugal for a stag weekend, I have popped home to see my parents. My mum and I decided to go shopping for the day and here is what I wore!

Dress - Newlook Inspire, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Shoes - Tesco, Headband - Superdrugs.

I had been eyeing up this dress for a while and I am so glad I finally got it. It is fabulous! I sized up because of the shift style (which I find is always a tighter cut no matter where it's from) and it fits perfectly. The material is breathable but also warm, so perfect for this time of year! It's so easy to wear and the tartan is a gorgeous colour. I cannot recommend it enough.

Oh these shoes!!!! I fell in love with them instantly and had to get them. F&F have massively upped their game! I was worried they would pinch my feet because of the pointed toe but they are super comfortably, almost like a wide fit shoe. I can already tell they're going to become a staple for me!

I haven't worn press on nails for a long time because I was trying to give my nails a rest but as soon as I saw these, that rest was over! These are Henry Holland for Elegant Touch press on nails, in Ghetto Gold. I have freakishly tiny nail beds so I usually struggle with press on nails being to big, but these were great! There were a good few size options and different styles - which meant you could customise the wearing of your set to exactly how you wanted them! I never trust glue that comes with press on nails, so I bought a seperate Elegant Nails brush on nail glue which is super hard wearing! I've already seen another set from this range that I want and there are at least 8 different styles to choose from!

Since the Channel 3 drama Cilla with Sheridan Smith started I have felt so inspired by the 60's fashions and this outfit inadvertently fully embraced the Cilla style which I utterly adore!

9223 Days On Earth

Last night I had the absolute pleasure of seeing the advanced screening of the heavenly, 20,000 days on earth. It would one of the most though provoking, inspiring and captivating pieces of biographical cinema I have ever witnessed and I really cannot recommend it enough. We were even treated to a live stream set from Nick Cave which totally blew my mind!

We went to see it at a gorgeous little art house cinema in Cardiff called Chapter, that is not only utterly charming but it also serves some of the best food in the city!

Although I knew we were going straight from work, I wore something that I could easily convert into an evening outfit with a little flash of lipstick!

Dress - ASOS Curve, Shoes - Charity Shop (originally Next), Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Bag - Faux Westwood.

This dress is just incredible. It is not only a gorgeous print but it is inhumanly comfortable. It is cut with almost no shaping at all which makes it super easy to wear but the slightly more tapered arms give it enough shape for it not to just look like a flowery sack! I bought this 2 sizes bigger than I would normally wear because I knew I wanted it oversized, however, you could EASILY get away with buying it one size smaller than you would normally wear because the sizing is so generous!

Now, I must apologise for not featuring my shoes. This is because I am very angry at them. I found them, almost brand new, for £3.50 in a charity shop and thought I had the bargain of the century! OH NO! After an hour of wearing them (involving maybe 20 minutes of walking all in all) they became SO lose they would literally not stay on! I'm not sure if this is because of the design, the material or the quality of the shoes but the most ridiculous thing is, they are a size smaller than I would normally wear and this STILL happened! Shame on you Next!

There really is nothing that MAC - Lady Danger lipstick cannot fix. This is my up at 6am, all day wear makeup with just a little touch up of my powder but the lipstick has managed to bring my entire face back to life and give the illusion that I spent my day leisurely readying myself for the evenings activities.

Thank you Nick Cave, for a wonderful evening. You are the other man in my life and your talent, presence and ability to inspire total awe never fails to astound me.

Fedora The Explorer

Last week, the gorgeous ladies at Yours Clothing sent me a fabulous bloggermail package, featuring a few gorgeous items from their newest collections to review! I was so impressed with the pieces I was sent - they are full of pure 60's/70's divine inspiration!

Fringed Top, Tights & Fedora - Yours Clothing, Boots - Vintage, Sunglasses - Urban Outfitters.

This top is just heavenly! The beautiful purple and orange paisley, teamed with the perfectly on trend fringing is just amazing. Not only that but it's also incredibly soft and comfortable! This is one size bigger than I normally wear and I was able to wear it as a long line tunic-style top with just tights without feeling incredibly exposed! The neck is cut slightly slashed so it can be worn as a classic neckline or pulled to one side to be worn off the shoulder and the bat wing sleeves are both super comfortable and super flattering!

I thought the fedora was the perfect accessory for this vintage inspired top and I was so glad when I received it and it actually fit my gigantic head! Usually I have such trouble finding beautiful hats because I really do have a huge head - but this one was great. Super comfortable and easy to throw on on a windy day to stop any unsightly windswept looks going on! I also added a gorgeous deep plum coloured matte lipstick from H&M which perfectly coordinated with the purple in the top (and it smells like berries which, I love)! I opted for no eye makeup at all because I felt this outfit lent itself to a simplistic and easy glamour!

The tights are a really great quality - perfect for someone like me that can ladder a pair of tights just by looking at them! I ordered these tights in the biggest size available and they were a little snug so I would definitely advise sizing up just in case (that being said, I do make sure I can pull any tights I buy right up under my boobs for extra comfort haha).

I bought these gorgeous vintage boots off of a friend who was having a clear out! They are so beautiful and give this outfit the perfect rugged finishing touch.

Overall this outfit gave me the biggest Janis Joplin, Edie Sedgwick, Joni Mitchell vibes and I adore it!

Burger Queen

Recently I was contact by a fabulous company called Love This Sunday who create INCREDIBLE food inspired swimwear and bodies. I was super super honoured when they asked me to style one of their products and naturally, I chose the burger print!

Body - Love This Sunday, Skirt - ASOS Curve, Shoes - Primark, Bag - Primark, Sunglasses - Vintage.

As soon as I saw this piece I knew it had to be mine! It is just incredible! The lovely lady from Love This Sunday mentioned that they like the thought of people not only wearing their pieces as swimwear, but also wearing them as bodies, which I LOVE! I went for something a little 80's, with this gorgeous jersey lined, floaty cobalt blue skirt and thick strap healed sandals from Primark that I have featured in a previous post! This is such an easy look to transition from day to evening and also from warmer to cooler weather! If the temperature did dip a little, why not throw on a kimono?

Kimono - ASOS Curve.

Now I went for this body in XXXL just to be on the safe side. I'm a size 24/26 and it was snug but very comfortable on me. The quality of the piece is incredible - it's a beautiful swimwear material as expected, but it's also fully lined which means it's perfect to wear as a body - without a bra, without having to worry about embarrassing lack of support/nipple issues! I cannot gush about this burger print dream any more, honestly, it's just heavenly.

If you are lucky enough to know anyone who owns a pool/own a pool yourself, this suit would also be perfect to wear at a pool party! It's glam enough that if you didn't want to swim, you could sit looking fabulous by the pool but practical enough that jumping in head first would definitely be possible!

The fact my belly makes the bun look 3D also makes me incredible happy.

Food inspired fashion is a big trend at the moment and ANYONE can embrace it. Fat, thin, tall, short etc! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

This suit is available in several other amazing prints and there are also bikini options too! Check out Love This Sunday at www.lovethissunday.com or on their instagram lovethissunday!

Plus North 2014

So this weekend just gone, I had the incredible experience of attending my very first Plus North - the norths premier plus size fashion event.

Being a fairly new blogger on the block and somebody that is not overly social, I was initially super nervous. Not only was I attending the event but I was also modelling a gorgeous AW Collection outfit for the fabulous Yours Clothing!

But, I had absolutely no reason to be nervous and I can whole heartedly say that it was one of the best weekends I have ever spent!

The event started on the Saturday and this was the day I was modelling for the wonderful Yours Clothing!

I wore a full outfit from their new AW collection including a gorgeous burgundy and black boucle coat with PU sleeves and collar!

Now, as most of my readers will know, I never ever wear trousers. In fact, I don't even own a pair of trousers! But for Yours I stepped outside of my comfort zone and modelled a pair of black jeggings which I felt utterly fabulous in! I really cannot express how much I loved modelling, it was such an incredible feeling and as soon as I had finished - I wanted to do it all over again! I shared the runway with so many stunning women and it was a complete honour!

Later in the day I got to have a sneak at some more pieces from the Yours AW Collection, including this stunning faux fur jacket which I was featured wearing on the Yours instagram account!

This is definitely an item I will be adding to my AW wardrobe as soon as it becomes available because I love nothing more than a good faux fur coat!

There were so many incredible brands showing their AW collections at Plus North but I think my favourite was definitely Zizzi. A German brand who are really proving their high quality fashion credentials in the plus size fashion world!

There was a lot of leather look pieces, a lot of Scuba and a lot of monochrome - all things I adore! Sadly they weren't selling items and were simpy tempting us with some samples and tempt me they most definitely have! As soon as I am able too, I will be bulk buying from Zizzi and here is a photograph of me snapped by BGP Magazine, with my Zizzi gift bag.

Simply Be also had some amazing new AW pieces on display, that will really take them to another level in the plus size fashion stakes! Including this incredible, edgy, baby blue PU mini skirt - available now online and in store! It makes me drool it is so beautiful!

Simply Be were also one of the brands showing at Plus North and some of my beautiful new friends modelled for them!

As y'all know, there is nothing a plus size girl loves more than delicous food! On arrival at Plus North we were greeted by these divine creations,

Sweet pizzas! There were a variety of toppings including Oreos, peanut butter, strawberries and marshmallows. They were super super sweet so a little piece was all you needed but they were absolutely delicious!

Speaking of fat girls loving food, check out my favourite photograph from the entire weekend. The stunning Nancy Whittington of Sugar, Darling and the heavenly Elena Davies of Frivolous Mrs D enjoying their gourmet hotdogs!

More than the stunning fashions and delicious foods were the people I had the honour of meeting at Plus North. I was very excited to get to meet so many women I would have so much in common with but what I didn't realise was that I would be meeting women I feel I will now be friends with for the rest of my days!

The beautiful Elena Davies from Frivolous Mrs D was the first lady I met after she agreed to do my nails before Plus North and as soon as I met her, I knew she was special! She is my fat soul sister and we are basically the same human being! Having now not seen her for 4 days, I genuinely miss her!

(Above pictures featuring the gorgeous Yours Clothing dress they gifted to me after I visited their Cardiff store! Unfortunately, I was having such a lovely time, I forgot to pause and take full outfit photographs!)

As well as the heavenly Elena. I had the utter pleasure of meeting and bonding with Becky B of The Ramblings Of Mrs Bebe - who is the founder of Plus North. What a woman! She is such an inspiration!

And last but by no means least, I was honoured to spend time with Rivkie Weichselbaum - the owner of the incredible SLiNK Magazine.

We laughed and drank Saturday night away at the Hilton Doubletree Rooftop Bar. We could see the whole of Leeds and it was beautiful. I have never felt so accepted by 3 wonderful women in my entire life and it genuinely makes me emotional thinking about it. I don't have many friends, the ones I do have I cherish  so making new ones is always an extra special occasion.

As well as these divine women, I met so many other beautiful people. Genuinely kind, fun and interesting women with whom I had endless amounts in common with and I think that is what made Plus North special for me. We were a sisterhood and aside from all the fat politics that go on in the world today, we were united because we were all fat and we all bloody love dressing well!

Finally, there was a raffle and I WON A PRIZE! I never win anything haha!

I won this amazing T Rex necklace from the Chunky Cat Cuddler. It is so much fun!

Now I know there are already incredible plans being made for a plus size FESTIVAL in the UK next year and I honestly could not be more excited!

I think this weekend has changed me and made me a stronger person, having felt that solidarity with so many wonderful women. It has made me more determined and resolute to keep going with my love of fat fashion!

Lots Of Love,
