Cold Weather Cool

As ya'll know, one of my favourite winter staples is a faux fur coat. I cannot get enough of them! So when Claire, the wonderful lady from Bolton based plus size boutique Curv'i'licious offered to send me this coat, I could not have been happier!

Coat - Curv'i'licious, Shirt - Charity Shop, Skirt - Charity Shop, Crop Top - Primark, Shoes - Newlook Widefit.

I genuinely think that this might be the best quality faux fur coat I have ever owned. The coat itself is very heavy duty so would need to be kept for those particularly cold days, the fur is soft and stunning and the lining has been finished inpeccably. It also has a huge diva collar, which naturally I am fully into haha. I'm wearing a size 26 which fits wonderfully because as I've said before I prefer my coats to be a little more roomy to allow you to wear whatever you want underneath it, but you could easily purchase your normal size and it would fit wonderfully. I cannot recommend it highly enough to you! Aside from the amazing coat itself, the service I received from the ladies at Curv'i'licious was fantastic, the posting speed was great as was their level of communication!

After helping out at the SLiNK Magazine Tess Munster shoot last week I decided to embrace a little of the masculinity stylist Rivkie Baum used to shake up Tess' look whilst still keeping the outfit feminine. This shirt belongs to my man and it is a classic flannel, perfect for this weather and great to sling over any outfit to add a little edge. It's also bang on trend because tartan is huge right now and I adore this particular tartan colouring! My crop top is old Primark and although it's simple and plain, it has a cute lace design across the bust. My skirt was an amazing charity shop find and is absurdly comfortable!

I cannot tell you how long I have been searching for a pair of soft patent brogues! When I found these in Newlook I almost lost my mind. It's easy to find brogues but they are often a hard leather and a nightmare to break in! These bad boys are from the Widefit range at Newlook and genuinely feel as if I am wearing slippers! I don't wear Widefit shoes a lot but maybe I need to start doing so haha! I love that again, these take something from more masculine fashions but still look great and feminine!

At weekends I love nothing more than lazy makeup! A little bronzer, a tiny dusting of eyeshadow, eyebrows and some lipstick is more than enough for me where I can help it. I got this lipstick on eBay and the colour is 'Plum Whiskey', I see no obvious plum in this but I do love the colour. It was super cheap and as far as I can see isn't even branded haha so it's lasting power isn't great but for a quick fix its perfect!

This afternoon my wonderful man and I plan to drink Baileys, eat mince pies and put the Christmas decorations up! What date do you think is acceptable to reach for the tinsel haha?

Bon Anniversare

This week, my beautiful man and I celebrated out third anniversary! He is the cookie to my crumb, the moon to my stars and the jingle to my bells. To celebrate we went out for the most beautiful dinner at our favourite restaurant, Giuliano's on Barry Island and I decided that this was the perfect occasion to test run a heavenly dress Simply Be so kindly sent to me!

Dress - Simply Be, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Shoes - Tesco, Necklace - Vintage

This dress is beautiful. Purely and simply beautiful. The neckline is possibly my favourite neckline out of every dress I own, its so flattering and different! The sculpted bust gives added support and structure and is the perfect contrast to the soft, floaty skirt. I sized up as I knew the bust would be tighter and this size fits me like a glove. The little sleeves are elasticated which is how they sit so perfectly off the shoulder without rising or digging into my arm chub - which is something I can experience problems with usually with sleeves this style, but not with this dress! I love the colour contrast of the bust and the skirt and this deep cranberry is a perfect festive party season tone! Usually I would wear this dress with tights but I am absolutely appalling when it comes to tights and managed to ladder every pair I had before I had even put them on so sadly I did have to wear leggings - but as it was a cold evening, this ended up being a good move! As ya'll know, I avoid wearing heels at all costs so I added this quirky pair of flats to add an additional edge to the outfit. I can't urge you enough to buy this dress if it has been teasing you with its beauty! It made me feel absolutely fabulous and could easily be dressed up a lot more for a more formal event!

My brother bought me this beautiful vintage necklace last Christmas and I love it! It is made from an old coin and with the neckline of this dress, it sits beautifully without being too OTT!

Coat - Yours Clothing

Naturally, as it was a freezing night I had to crack out this beautiful Yours clothing fur coat! Not only does it keep me warm but it really does add a little extra sauce to any outfit!

I decided to try something a little different with my makeup so I kept it very soft and simple. I added a little shimmery bronze and black eyeshadow to my lids (from an ELF palette I picked up for £5 with 100 different eyeshadow in it, which is surprisingly really lovely), a quick coat of mascara and a little simple glittery Revlon lipgloss. I love wearing lipstick on a night out but sometimes it is great to mix things up!

When I arrived home from work my man had bought me a bottle of my beverage of choice, Prosecco and put it in a ridiculous cup for me! At the restaurant I ate Italian Sausage with chickpea and chilli's, fillet of beef lasagne and an amaretto crème brulee and it was heavenly! We had a perfect evening.

Adventures In The Big Smoke

So this weekend, I packed up my things and headed off to London for one of the most exciting weekends of my life!

On Saturday I attended to British Plus Size Awards and as ya'll know I was nominated in the 'Best New Blog' category. Now, unfortunately, I didn't win, however, I did have a wonderful evening with my incredible girls and I got to dress up and feel ever so fancy!

Dress - Kiyonna at Curvety, Clutch - Dorothy Perkins, Shoes - Newlook, Necklace - Vintage.

This dress is beyond glorious, beyond incredible - it may just be the greatest dress I have ever owned. The quality is impeccable, the material falls beautifully and compliments every curve equally. The colour is utterly flawless and most importantly, it made me feel Oscar worthy! I received so many wonderful compliments throughout the night on my dress and this made me feel even better! Now I know I have said time and time again how much I dislike wrap dresses and the fact they are always peddled as something plus size women 'should' wear, but this dress is the exception to this. Yes, it is a wrap dress, but it isn't the standard wrap dress. There is a huge velvet tie that sits as a bow at your hip and the neckline is wider than your average wrap dress, exposing the perfect amount of skin. I am 5'8 and the length, with heels, was perfect. It was millimetres from the floor, which was perfect as it looked floor length but without the stress of it getting dirty and wet!

I struggled to find a clutch bag that I liked to go with the dress but eventually managed to pick up this absolute bargain in the Dorothy Perkins sale for £6!! It is a gorgeous, unusual holographic gold/bronze on the top section and the rest of the clutch is a soft black suede-effect. I am not the kind of person that could use clutch bags on a day to day basis as ultimately, I carry far too much crap around with me! But the size of this was great, just enough to fit everything you need for the evening in it, without being overpoweringly huge! I also teamed the look with a very simple vintage necklace with gentle pearl detailing. My darling friend Elena and I also nipped to Illamasqua in the centre of London to have our makeup done before the evening and I was so pleased! I've never had my makeup done professionally so I was a little nervous that I wouldn't be sure about it, but I loved it! The team were so much fun and so helpful  - I could totally get used to having someone else do my makeup on a daily basis haha!

I got to spend the time with my favourite girls too! The divine Elena Davies from Frivolous Mrs D & the heavenly Becky Barnes from The Ramblings Of Mrs BeBe (not pictured the wonderful Betty Pamper and the fabulous Rivkie Baum). These girls welcomed me into their fold without even a second thought and this was the first time I had seen them since first meeting them at Plus North. We laughed, cried, ate takeaway food at 2.30pm and all felt wonderful in our posh frocks! We also could all not have been more proud that Becky and Betty both picked up incredibly well deserved awards - Becky received Best Event for Plus North & Betty received Best Blog. I feel so humbled to call all of these beautiful, talented and driven women my friends!

Now, I can't lie, after I found out that I hadn't won my category, I was gutted so I snuck off to the loo for a little cry. After I composed myself and returned to my seat, this beautiful girl came and sat down next to me. This is Bethany Churcher, she is a singer and plus model. She told me that earlier in the evening she had been too nervous to come and speak to me as she is a huge fan of mine and of my blog and I am a huge inspiration to her. This absolutely blew my mind as I would never consider myself worthy of being someone's inspiration. So I went from feeling teary for a negative reason to feeling teary for an incredibly positive reason. Speaking to Bethany really did make my evening and 100% confirmed to me why I do what I do in regards to blogging and that, win or lose, the fact that I have made a difference to someone really means more to me than I could ever express.

Now as if that amazing evening hadn't been enough, on Sunday I was lucky enough to work as Stylist's Assistant on a SLiNK Magazine shoot! Not only was I working on a SLiNK Magazine shoot but it was a SLiNK Magazine shoot with Tess Munster. The entire day just blew my mind. I steamed clothes until I was a sweaty mess and ogled numerous gorgeous items of clothing and it was incredible.

Tess was wonderful. She was super lovely, super hilarious and totally filthy. She worked her butt off, was up for anything and looked utterly flawless. I'm not sure what I was expecting when I was lucky enough to find out I was working on this shoot, but Tess really did exceed all my expectations - for someone with such an incredible level of success in such a competitive and often cut throat industry, she is such a down to earth, humble and genuine nice woman.

All in all this really has been one of the most incredible weekends I've ever been lucky enough to experience. I am absolutely exhausted, but utterly elated and I would like to say the biggest thank you, from the bottom of my heart to all of you that voted for me and to everyone that has supported me since I started my blog 12 months ago. This weekend truly felt like a little step closer to my achieving my dreams.

Brand Spotlight - Monroe Knows

This year at Plus North I was approached by a lovely gentleman named Marvin and asked a few questions about what styles and colours I would love to see from a new plus size brand. He was super keen to get Bloggers input which I thought was fantastic! Marvin is the founder of a wonderful new brand called Monroe Knows who I had the great pleasure of receiving a package from last week with a piece from their signature collection!

Firstly, the packaging was utterly phenomenal! The dress came in a stunning black box, tied with a ribbon and was wrapped lovingly in tissue paper. The box also contained an incredible gluten and dairy free cherry kirsh chocolate truffle from a company called Gorge - which was a wonderful surprise! I almost didn't want to open the box and disturb anything because it was all so lovely! There is something so special about receiving a package of any kind where real care and consideration has been put into the presentation of not just the item, but the entire day package!

Coat - Yours Clothing, Dress - Monroe Knows, Tights - Evans, Scarf - Vintage, Boots - ASOS.

The dress I chose from the Monroe Knows signature collection was the Amy dress in green and it is glorious! Although their signature collection is small, I was overwhelmed by the beautiful classic cuts so I had to ask my partner to help me choose and he definitely chose well. The first thing I noticed about the dress was the impeccable quality of the fabric. It's a stunning, soft, heavy Jersey which falls beautifully. I sized up as I wasn't sure what the garment would fit like but I really didn't need to! I could have easily sized down if anything. But despite the dress being slightly big (due to no fault of the brand, this was my fault by being too cautious about the sizing), it fits wonderfully. The wrap style front is a little saucy but not too much and the mid calf length of the skirt is so classy. I also love the colour - it was so nice to be offered something slightly different, colour wise by a brand! I feel that this colour is a gorgeous twist on a classic dress style.

I went with very simple hair and makeup to offset the classic styling of the dress. I felt fabulous in this dress! I cannot recommend the brand and their signature collection enough - they truly have created classic dress styles for all occasions that flatter and feel wonderful!

This dress was perfect to wear for the occasion, which was date night and included spending our second evening in the presence of the incredible Mr Gregory Porter at St David's Hall in Cardiff.

We went for dinner beforehand and my pudding was a Nutella and marshmallow Fluff brioche sandwich with pistachio icecream which was a total life changer and then we went on to the gig. As before, Gregory Porter was utterly flawless and proved that when you have a true talent that can completely captivate, all you need is your voice and your band.

Fur Coat, Big Knickers

So the incredible folks at Yours Clothing have been kind enough to send me the best early Christmas present ever - the faux fur coat I was lusting over at this years Plus North! And it is every bit as glorious as I had imagined it would be!

Coat - Yours Clothing, Dress - Rogers&Rogers at Matalan, Boots - ASOS, Belt - ASOS Curve.

I really struggle to put in to words the deep love that I feel for this coat. Nothing pleases me more in the Winter than a good faux fur coat and this year I was lacking one until this reached me in the post today! The quality is glorious - the fur itself is soft, shiny and non-malting and the lining is a beautiful brown satin. I sized up because I prefer coats to be a little bigger to go over all clothing options and the sizing is great!

The collar is huge, which I adore. It makes the coat feel even more glamorous yet also totally snuggly! The sleeves are a great length, as I sometimes find with sizing up, the sleeve length can be an issue and my tiny hands find themselves swapped by the cuffs.

There are a lot of faux fur coats floating around this season, in all sorts of wonderful colours! But if you are looking for the classic, glamorous and incredible versatile leopard fur - please look no further, this is the coat you have been looking for!

Whilst gushing over this gorgeous coat, I would also like to gush over this incredible, fashion forward Matalan dress! It's a maxi dress with a mesh panel from just below the knee down, two splits either side of the dress that run up to the beginning of the mesh and lovely t-shirt style sleeves. It is divine! Basically the maxi that I have been dreaming of. If I am completely honest, I was shocked when I saw this dress whilst flicking through the Matalan website because I had never thought of Rogers&Rogers as a fashion forward brand but they have gone and proved me totally wrong! The only thing I will say anot this dress is that I bought a size 39 because I wanted it baggy. Normally, I am a size 26 at my biggest and this dress fits me like the average size 26 would, so for you lovely ladies a size 26 and above, I would be a little wary of the sizing!

I fully embraced my inner fashion goth and my inner Kylie Jenner for this look. I love big, bold, dark lips, especially at this time of the year. This is the Topshop Lip Bullet in Wine Gum. It is a very moist lipstick, so can be a little tricky to apply but once on the depth and drama of the colour is incredible!

I teamed this look with a super old ASOS Curve belt with cross detailing and equally old ASOS suede ankle boots with kitten heels.

If you don't have a faux fur coat, or 5, in your life this Winter - I urge you to go and get one and complete you Winter Warmer's Wardrobe.

Brand Spotlight - That Day

Last week I received the most beautiful package, wrapped and tied with a bow from gorgeous new brand, That Day. Aside from the stunning pieces in the package, I could not get over how much effort had gone into the wrapping and packaging - it was so beautiful I didn't want to open it!

They have recently started selling their stunning A/W collection through the Evans website and it is full of wonderful, versatile pieces. Including the two dresses I was lucky enough to receive from them!

Dress - That Day, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Shoes - Topshop.

The first dress that I received is this absolutely stunning mustard number. I fell in love with it instantly! It's so simple, classic and flawless made. The quality is faultless - everything from the lining to the sleeve detailing. This isn't a colour I often wear and this dress has made me question why that is because I love it! It made me feel glamorous without even having to try! I sized up as I wasn't sure what the sizing would be like and I would say it does run slightly small but the fit is beautiful - it really is made for curves!

I decided to team it with this cute blazer I found in a charity shop last year, slick back hair and Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick!

The second dress I was sent is the exact same style as the mustard one but something very, very different for me!

Dress - That Day, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Shoes - Newlook, Fedora - Yours Clothing.

Now this print is something totally out of my comfort zone. Although I do class myself as very feminine, I very rarely choose ultra feminine, floral prints. So when I first saw this dress I though it was gorgeous, but I wasn't sure it was me at all! Then as soon as I'd tried it on, I was fully converted! With the added fedora, vintage beads and soft pink Benefit Hydra Smooth lipstick - I felt fabulous! As with the mustard dress, the cut and quality is so beautiful. I felt like a country music star and, for those of you that know me, will understand that is my dream!

Both dresses have this gorgeous split sleeve detailing which I adore. Not only does it look beautiful but it gives the option of upper arm coverage, if you are a little conscious of your arms, without restricting them totally! It's such a cute, unusual design feature - I love it.

I cannot recommend both this dress, in both colours, highly enough. As I've said, the quality is incredible, the fit is beautiful and they both made me feel fabulous - in very different ways!
If dresses or prints aren't your thing, That day offer a gorgeous range of other stunning pieces;

Longline, sheer soft floral print shirt.

Black lace insert shift dress.

Daisy print kimono.

Grey panel top (this top comes in both the mustard and the floral of my dresses).
I love seeing new and wonderful plus size brands pop up on my radar and That Day really are going to be one to watch. With their gorgeous, classic pieces made to the upmost quality - I can only see them getting bigger and bigger with time! Their website is under construction but should be up and running soon and until then please check them out on the Evans website!

Lots Of Love,
