Yours Clothing Cardiff - Summer Style

This afternoon I took my seasonal trip to the Yours Clothing store in Cardiff to leer over their gorgeous Summer stock! I was helped by a lovely lady named Hannah who could not have been more attentive, she was great and not just with me, with all the other customers in the store at the time too! Anyway, I had the toughest time picking out my favourite pieces because the store was absolutely rammed full of gorgeous summer essentials, however, I did manage to narrow it down in the end!

Sheer tropical wrap waistcoat - £30

Bodycon V Neck Dress - £35
Polka Dot Sleeveless Sundress - £23
Acid Wash Denim Playsuit - £28
Jersey Tie Dye Maxi - CURRENTLY IN THE SALE FOR £24.50
Longline sheer collarless blouse - £26

Off The Shoulder PomPom Detail Dress - £26
I literally adored every single item I tried on! There wasn't one I thought 'hmmm, I'm not sure' about! They were all perfect for different occasions throughout the summer from lazy days at the beach to summer work events! I was lucky enough to be able to choose my two favourite items to take home with me and it will come as no shock to ya'll that I chose the last two items. The longline sheer collarless blouse and the off the shoulder pompom detail dress - releasing my inner Stevie Nicks and re-releasing my inner angsty goth! Both items are gorgeous quality, perfect for summer and perfect for totally different occasions. I can't wait to put together outfits around both of these and get to show you them in their full glory!
I must say that Yours really has come on in leaps and bounds since I first started shopping there. The quality is fabulous and the range of fashion styles is growing weekly! They cater to all ages, all fashion sense and all budgets which I think is so important. Whether you shop with them online or in store, you won't be disappointed and I could not recommend the Cardiff store enough - for variation of stock and the lovely ladies that work there!

Bonmarche Blog Swap

So recently I was contacted by the lovely people at Bonmarche who asked me to take part in the #BMbloggerswap challenge. The challenge was that you were paired with another blogger and you had to choose outfits for one another from the Bonmarche website with a budget of £70! I was paired with the lovely Hollie from Pretty Big Butterflies (http://prettybigbutterflies.com) and here is the outfit she chose for me!

Kimono - Ann Harvey for Bonmarche, Leggings - Bonmarche, Cami Top - Bonmarche, Necklace - Bonmarche, Shoes - Newlook, Bag - Primark.

Now I must be honest with ya'll, this outfit is not the sort of thing I would normally wear however I can 100% appreciate the quality of the items! The kimono is a gorgeous soft, light and airy material making it perfect for summer evenings and strolls on the beach, the leggings are super stretchy (you could easily size down once) and mega comfortable with added zip detail to give them a little edge and the cami is a great soft quality and could be worn with almost any outfit so it's incredibly versatile.

I do love a cheeky zip detailing, it has turned these nice, simple pair of leggings into an item you could easily wear as you would a pair of cigarette pants. I would love to wear these with an oversized shirt and tie to produce the perfect androgynous office/work outfit!

The necklace Hollie chose for me is adorable and super pretty. It sits at a great length for me rather than hanging too low or too high which I find can be an issue for us bustier ladies! I love the turquoise detailing and the cute gold ball centre piece.

I picked up this bag for £1 in Primark a little while ago and I knew it would be the perfect accessory to add to this outfit. It picks up the gold from the necklace and the tassels add a little touch of 'me' to this outfit.

Now as I said, this isn't an outfit I would have chosen for myself but, I do love each item individually and I can't wait to style them with different pieces because I know I will get a huge amount of wear out of all of them that way! The quality is unquestionable and considering this full outfit (minus shoes and bag) came to £70, I am super impressed! Well done Bonmarche for providing ace quality items for great prices!

I had such a lot of fun doing the #BMbloggerswap and putting my date in Hollie's hands! It was something totally different and I would love to do something similar again!

Aztec London With VeryVIP

Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of taking a trip to London for a day of blogger-based fun! Firstly, I attended my very first blogger event with the always incredible, Curvy Kate & Fig Leaves - but you will have to wait to hear about this! After this excitement I was lucky enough to snag an invite to the VeryVIP showcase of their new collections and it was FABULOUS!

Shirt Dress - Alice & You, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Socks - Topshop, Brogues - Clarks, Bag & PomPom - River Island.

Now, generally, I'm not a fan of big patterns, it just isn't me. However, as soon as I saw this shirt, I knew that I had to have it and I could not be more glad I didn't fight this feeling! This is, without a doubt, the great shirt dress/shirt based item of clothing I have ever owned. The material is soft and delicious, the collar quality is perfect, the pattern is delightful and there is NO GAPING WHATSOEVER!!! Usually, no matter what size shirt item I buy, there is always always gaping on the bust, but not with this bad boy. You can wear it fully done up as I have here, or for a more casual look, unbutton until your hearts content! It is so comfortable and for a full day in London, including lots of travelling, it was perfect.

I was lucky enough to attend BOTH events with my kindred spirit, fairy god mother, eternally ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL and medically tall Em Smyth from Terrible Tumbles (http://www.terribletumbles.co.uk/). Look at that beautiful face!

The new collections were gorgeous, I can't lie. A lot of 70's inspiration and of course, festival style inspiration which was the theme of the evening! Fringing was back in a big way, which I 110% support, I adore a cheeky bit of fringing. There were a lot of cute floaty dresses, cover ups and kimonos - perfect for throwing on over any number of the denim pieces on offer! Sadly these particular collections were not a part of the So Fabulous range, so only went up to a size 16, but I could still fully appreciate their beauty haha.

My favourite piece from the evening was this STUNNING full sequin top. It was pink but with a gold hue and reminded me of a beautiful salmon, I absolutely loved it and would have snapped it up in an instance if my sizing/their sizing had allowed!

The whole event, as I said, was festival themed - even down to the food! Look how adorable this snack sized fish and chips is, adorable and totally delicious. Naturally, Em and I took total advantage of the photo booth they had set up......

We so sexy.
They also had festival hair styling, temporary tattoos and ear piercing on offer. I offer no reward for those of ya'll that can guess which option we chose!
Very were also offering all bloggers in attendance an amazing opportunity to take home their three favourite pieces from the collections! All you had to do was snap yourself holding/wearing your favourite items and share them on social media using the hashtag #veryvip, show the ladies at the booth proof you had shared them and then they packed them up for you to take away! It was such a great blogger bonus and Em got three stunning pieces - including the blue plastic mac pictured above that I was very jealous of!
I had such a magical day! It was one of those days where you think 'thanks Universe, you have really done me a solid today'. I can't wait to be able to share the first part of my day with ya'll, including my Curvy Kate #swimstories!

So, apparently, the latest proof of your level of 'health and fitness' is whether or not you can stretch your arms around yourself and touch your belly button?

You cannot be serious.

Who comes up with this shit?

Now, as ya'll know, I'm not usually one to get embroiled in these weight loss, health, fitness type debates but this made me chuckle, it really did. It is so absurd and frankly, a little dangerous. Kids, please don't try this, your elbows just don't bend that way, it's inhuman.

Let me prove how ridiculous this is to you.

This is my best friend, Roxanne. Aside from being utterly beautiful and my sister from another mister, she is also a slim, toned, size 10/12 (if not smaller) and she also suffers from Hypermobility Syndrome. For those of ya'll that don't know, this is the definition of Hypermobility;

'Joint hypermobility means that some or all of a person's joints have an unusually large range of movement'.

By the logic of this 'test', Roxanne should be able to reach around herself and touch her belly button WITHOUT suffering from hypermobility because she is fit and healthy? HOWEVER, after seeing my post about this, Roxanne informed me that even WITH her hypermobility she was still unable to do this.

So, let me get this straight, someone who is fit, health and slim AND has joints that are naturally more mobile than the average human being, she STILL can't do this to 'prove' her health and fitness level?

Basically, its all a bunch of crap. Stop trying to touch your belly buttons, touch something far more important instead.

My girls over at Curvy Kate and the wonderful people at CoppaFeel have decided that we should be focusing on #BoobsOverBellyButtons. Checking your breasts for irregularities and lumps is hugely important, far more so than trying to reach the impossible of your belly button whilst your arms are wrapped around you backwards! Sadly, breast examination isn't focused on as much as it should be because crap like 'the belly button challenge' overrides it. So ladies, take your hands and grasp those glories mammaries of yours and give them a good squeeze. They are something really worth grabbing!

Get involved by posting your own mammary grabbing selfie on Instragram, Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #BoobsOverBellyButtons and get breast examination the exposure it needs to help save lifes!

Brogues For Days

Once again, I greatly apologise for my silence! Life has been so busy - mostly with work, but also with various activities and a new man friend (I will get to that later hehe). But last night was date night, which involved lots of food and Jurassic World (which I would totally recommend if you're in the market for a really fun, slightly cheesy, all round badass dinosaur movie)!

Swing Dress - Simply Be, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Socks - Primark, Brogues - Clarks, Clutch - Primark.

Now overly patterned things usually wouldn't be my first choice however this is glorious. The black and white monochrome mixed with a 60's inspired geo print makes me so happy! Anything 60's inspired and I am all over! The best way I can describe this material is 'mole skin'. Now, of course, it isn't mole skin, but it's soft, supple and slightly furry which in turn makes it ridiculously comfortable and allows the dress to fall beautifully. It also has two front pockets which, although a tad unnecessary for me personally as I'm not a pocket girl, they do add a cute twist to the standard swing dress. I felt glam but also comfortable and retro in this gorgeous dress so I cannot recommend it enough to ya'll. The sizing is also wonderful, no sizing up required, totally true to size!

Now let's get on to these brogues. THE BROGUES!!! Honestly? I am a sucker for a cute, CHEAP pair of shoes that will ultimately destroy my feet or last no longer than a few weeks. I had been telling myself for months I needed to invest in a GOOD pair of shoes so when I saw these, it was love at first sight. They are Clarks, so you know the quality would never questionable! But they are also totally stylish, on trend, comfortable and supportive. They have a tiny heel (no more than half an inch) which adds a feminine touch and the fit is impeccable. I have pretty giant feet, I'm a size 8 and sometimes I wear wide fit, but sometimes not - it all depends on the shoe. These are standard fit and my trotters were in heaven! They are a little pricey, but seriously worth every penny! Invest in a statement brogue and you are good to go! (The socks are also adorable, £1 from Primark! You have to be super careful putting them on as the main sock is a very thin tight-esque material but they are  just so cute).

I also want ya'll to take a minute to appreciate this pop art inspired clutch. £6!! Six pounds!! Look at it! It's fun, ridiculous and a little scary. When I bought it, I thought, I don't care if I never use it, I just love it and have to have it however since buying it, I have used it more than any other clutch I own. So thanks Primark for this absolute beast.

I went with a little 60's inspired face to go with the dress - adding lash flicks under my bottom eyelashes in the style of the ever iconic Twiggy. I also busted out my classic, go to MAC lipstick of choice - Lady Danger. It's verging on an orange red but I think the final colour of it really depends on your own colouring and because I'm whiter than white, it swings more to the red end of the scale on me.

And finally, here is a little treat for ya'll. my new man friend. He is a handsome devil, dresses better than I do and he buys me flowers - for now that's all you're getting hehe.

It's so nice to be back in the blogging saddle! I won't be leaving it anywhere near as long this time!

Lots Of Love,
