The Witch Is Back

So, as I have said many a time, I will never ever fully relinquish my goth roots haha. I adore black flowing garments and dark lipstick and I can assure you that this will never change!

Longline Shirt - Simply Be, Strap Top - Bonmarche, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Shoes - River Island, Bag & Pompom - River Island, Sunglasses - Primark.

Oh this shirt, THIS SHIRT! As sad as this may sound to admit, since watching American Horror Story: Coven, I cannot shake the fashion inspiration it provided me with. Flowing materials and lots of black as a stark contrast to me pale skin! This shirt is glorious. I bought a size 32 because I wanted there to be as much material as possible and although I wouldn't say it is true to size, it fit for my purpose perfectly! The material is soft and light, the collar is comfortable and doesn't irritate my neck and the sleeves are a cute almost puff shape! Now had I not been in work this morning, I probably would have worn this shirt with just a nice lacy bra underneath, but to be a little more 'work appropriate', I added the little strap top underneath it.

I picked these bad boys up in the River Island sale for £8! £8!!!! They are incredible. So gawdy and OTT but I adore them. As the bottom is a small flat form, they feel like walking on little clouds! They add a much needed pop of metallic to this all black outfit!

Under My Umberella

So, July now seems to think it is October right? controversial as this may sound, I don't entirely hate it. I like the cold, rainy, British weather! Any excuse to crack out a nice pair of socks or a nice umbrella and I am there!

Dress - Simply Be, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Socks - Primark, Brogues - Clarks, Umbrella - PDSA (new stock).

I adore this dress. It is the simplest, easiest, most comfortable thing to throw on and yet still go out feeling a little glam and dressed up! The material is a very soft, stretchy jersey that isn't too hot and the back has a cheeky little cut out detailing as well as the double-layer look! It's also available in black, however, I really do adore Cobalt so I had to grab it in this shade! The sizing is......ungenerous to say the least, however, providing you know to size up (I would honestly say at least twice) then there is no problem! Sizing of clothing isn't something that's ever bothered me, whether I have to size up or down or stay my normal size - if I like a garment, I'm happy to go with whatever size it looks best in!

I know I've shown ya'll these shoes before but check out these wicked cool socks I found in Primark! They also come in burgundy with black fringing but staying true to my inner goth, I went for black and for £1.50, I cannot fault then and may have to stock up haha!

Something Borrowed

So yesterday I had my work Summer Conference. We have one every year and it's a great excuse to get dressed up! However, this year I was hugely flapping about what to wear until the INCREDIBLE Elena (my fat soul sister) from Frivolous Mrs D ( offered to lend me one of her glorious dresses!

Dress - Nicolette Mason for Modcloth, Shoes - Sole Diva for Simply Be, Clutch - Primark.

THIS DRESS!!! Look at it. Behold it's divinity. Elena wore this dress to the British Plus Size Awards last year and when she offered to lend it to me, I almost had a heart attack. Everything about this dress is perfection. The material is soft, beautiful quality and falls wonderfully, it nips in perfectly at the waist, the little capped sleeves are exactly what you need if you are not too confident with your upper arms and above all it makes you feel like a glamorous, vintage princess! Sadly it is no longer available as it was part of a limited edition collection by Nicolette Mason, so that makes me even more thankful to have gotten the opportunity to wear it!

I grabbed these shoes from Sole Diva for Simply Be and honestly, they're great. I am truly appalling in heels, my feet get sore after 5 minutes, but with the little kitten heel and the wide fit - these were a great compromise. Also, you know me, I love a cheeky bit of leopard print! These shoes do come in several different colours and two different width fittings so there is something for everyone available!

To finish, here is a picture of me and my beautiful work chum R Kelley. In a sea of slender, tanned ladies - we were killing it for the pale and pleasantly plump!

Ox Blood Rain

So this weekend it was my birthday! Then the day after it was my mans birthday. Naturally, to celebrate this, we decided to go to the Sealife Centre and Birmingham Museum and although it is July, July now seems to think it's October! So despite the weather, we braved the outdoors and conquered sea world!

Dress - ASOS Curve, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Loafers - Schuh, Bag a River Island.

I had been lusting after this dress for such a long time on the ASOS Curve website so when I saw it in the sale, it was mine! It is glorious. I'm really not usually a fan of a dipped hem however the quality of this dress, makes the dipped hem, a classy dipped hem. The material is thick and falls beautifully, the cut and sizing is perfect and the sleeves are a great length. The only one thing I will say is that on the ASOS website, the material looked a lot silkier, however, that doesn't impact on my love of the dress! If I whipped off my leggings, whacked on a pair of heels and grabbed a clutch bag this would also be the easiest day to night dress ever. It's so perfect to dress up or down!

Oh these shoes! For years I had been after a good pair of Ox blood brogues or loafers and without steering into Doc Martin territories (which I couldn't do because I have no patience when it comes to breaking in shoes), I had had no luck. So when my beautiful man got me these for my birthday, I almost shed a tear. They are the most beautiful pair of shoes I have seen in a long time and SO comfortable! The rubbed a tiny, tiny but but it was the first time I had worn them and we did walk quite a way! Oh they are so beautiful and I know they are going to become a staple item in my wardrobe.

Here are some pictures from our day! I am particularly fond of the majestic giant sea turtle and the statue of the boy with his winkle out.

Studio8 Plus Size Luxury

So I recently discovered that Phase Eight were launching their own plus size section, Studio8! Naturally, when I was offered the opportunity to review one of these pieces, I jumped at the chance!

Coatigan - Studio8, Dress - Simply Be, Leggings - Newlook Inspire, Pumps - Topshop.

This is the 'Martha' Coatigan from the Stufio8 plus size range and it is unbelievable. It's a gorgeous bright red, the material is stunningly soft, the fit is fantastic and the quality is second to none. The Studio8 range is in a higher price bracket than most plus size collections on the high street however after receiving this piece, I can absolutely assure you that this collection is worth every penny. I teamed it with a high neck, textured dress in a gorgeous teal from Simply Be which I feel is the ultimate transition outfit because you could wear it to work and look smart and stylish but also wear it out and feel sexy and high class. It's thick but not suffocating so would be fantastic for Autumn and even early Winter!

The quilting is in a soft, almost floral pattern than runs throughout the entire Coatigan. It feels beautiful and isn't remotely bulky which I feel can be an issue with some quilted pieces.

These pumps are adorable. I picked them up from Topshop, they are a really great quality and so comfortable. I had been looking for a good quality pair of plain black pumps for a long time so I had to grab these. They came with the oddest disclaimer that said something a long the lines of 'these are made in the way of a traditional ballet construction, therefore will not withstand consistent outside wear' which I thought was bizarre! However that doesn't make me love them any less, if you need a good pair of pumps, pick these bad boys up.

The collection runs from a size 16-24 and from this piece I can say that the fit is very true to size and very tailored so buy your 'standard' size. Seeing a new plus size collection of such high quality is so encouraging. Studio8 is proving that size has absolutely nothing to do with style and class. I feel a million dollars and so sophistaicated in this item - it's glorious!

Check out the Studio8 lookbook here - and explore all the stunning first collection pieces!

California Dreamin'

The 60's and 70's are possibly two of my favourite eras fashion wise. However, being a plus size woman, I find that it really is hard to find vintage numbers from these eras. So when I saw this beautiful creation on the Simply Be website, I lost my mind and knew I had to have it.

Dress and headscarf - Simply Be.

Oh this dress. THIS DRESS! Look at it. It is glorious. Full length, with a beautiful central split, incredibly paisley print and an accompanying tie that is suggested to be worn as a neck scarf however I thought it might work as a head adornment instead (it could also be worn as a belt or not worn at all!). The material is super soft and silky without being unflattering, the fit is sexy but understated and true to the era and I am struggling to find faults with it to be honest! Now I know this is very much a marmite piece and really won't be for everyone as it does vaguely sing of the Manson Family or The Mamas & The Papas but I love it. I sized up twice because I wanted to be sure it had a flowey quality and the fit is great because of that. So if you fancy grabbing this, bare in mind the sizing comes up a little small but as long as you size up once/twice, you'll be fine! The sleeves are cut in a very classic bell style which means there's no restriction, making the dress extra comfortable and also still true to era.

I teamed this dress with a soft brown/orange lip that picked up highlights from the dress and from my hair haha!

I really can't say enough good things about this dress and the fact it is something entirely different for Simply Be feel. Although the 70's are very much on trend at the moment, this particular item is far more fully encompassing than a lot of pieces that just take elements of 70's inspiration and I think that is why I adore it! It allows me, as a plus size woman, to embrace entirely an era that I love, without compromise!

Summer In The City

So, it's hot. This means that it's time to embrace dressing for Summer. When I was younger, I loathed Summer because I hated Summer fashions and the level of exposure they forced but now, I love it and I love exploring Summer fashion options.

Dress - Yours Clothing, Boots - Vintage, Sunglasses & Hair Scrunchie - Urban Outfitters.

I ADORE this dress. It is perfection. Not only is it the comfiest, softest Jersey material ever but it also has an amazing pompom off the shoulder neckline. The neckline is also complete with very thin straps to hold it in place, so it doesn't keep slipping off which I think is a really cute touch for added comfort! The length is perfect and the elasticated waist nips you in at exactly the right point.

This dress is perfect for the warm weather because although it's black, it's very thin, soft, comfortable and breezy and has the gorgeous open shoulders. It also allows me to channel my inner Coven/Buffy inspired goth haha and gives me an excuse to crack out my pure 90's throwback brown lipstick.

Forever Living - Aloe Vera Heaven

So as ya'll know, I am by no means a beauty blogger, I am fashion fashion fashion all the way! However, when my beautiful friend Emily came to me and asked me to review her Forever Living products, I jumped at the chance. I am a complete beauty product sell out and I love trying and testing all the latest lotions and potions. Before Emily started selling these products, I had used and sworn by a few Aloe Vera based items in the past (nothing brightens healed tattoos like Aloe Vera Gel!) so I was eager to give these a whirl! My housemates and I decided to make an occasion of it and get together for a girly pamper evening!

So Emily put together a little 'Pamper Box' for us, with samples of some of the best facial treatment products on offer! We have (from left) an eye cream, a lotion, a scrub, a cleanser, a gel, a toothpaste and a toner. All these products are super reasonably priced (around £13 each) and will last you a good amount of time as you only need a touch of each, for each treatment.

Emily also included the best selling Aloe Mask (she also gave us our own application kit, which was adorable, a spoon for mixing the product and a brush for application), which has been nicknamed 'The Botox Mask' because of its tightening and firming result after just one application. To make up the mask you have to mix one teaspoon of the powder, with one tea spoon of the activator. Being super girly, we were all really excited to give this a go.

Firstly, we tried the scrub which felt glorious. It was refreshing and awakening. I didn't know for a long time that a lot of scrubs use plastic, unnatural exfoliating beads which are not only not great for your skin but are also terrible for the environment as they don't decompose and can cause a lot of damage to wild life! This scrubs is entirely natural and also gentle, which is really important for me as I have the worlds most sensitive skin!

In our box Emily also included this glorious smelling 'Vanilla Sugar' candle to burn whilst we were pampering for additional relaxation and it did smell delicious. I am a huge sucker for scented candles!

After the scrub we also cleansed and toned. I think my favourite product of all was the toner. It was so fresh and revitalising - it left my skin feeling bright, alive and smooth! Out of all the products I would absolutely recommend this, my pores have never felt so clean!

After that, we moved on to the mask! When you mixed the two products together you were aiming for a 'lotion' consistency which was super easy to achieve. We mixed one teaspoon of the activator with one teaspoon of the powder and it made more than enough mask for all three of us. Painting it on was super easy and it smelt and felt beautiful. Although the mixture itself was pink, when applied to your skin it came out completely clear and began hardening almost instantly!

Although you can't really see it in this picture, the mask hardens to the point where you actually cannot move your face. Its hilarious. It is suggested that you 'limit facial movement for up to 30 minutes', but the harder the mask got, the funnier it felt, so the more we laughed. However, even with our hysterical laughter, it didn't crack the mask! It was indestructible! As odd as it felt, as it hardened it also felt good, really firming and toning!

Its hard to tell here because the mask is clear but we all have it on! The biggest surprise was when you went to remove the mask. It suggested you did it using a warm, damp cloth. I was not convinced this was going to remove even an inch of this hardcore beast! But, as soon as I applied the warm, damp cloth to my face, the mask melted away, it was magic! There was no horrible scrubbing required or excess washing, it felt wonderful. After the mask is fully removed, it recommends you tone and moisturise, which we all did using the Forever Living toner and moisturiser/gel (I used the gel and Amy and Sam used the moisturiser).
I am hard to please with beauty products because I have such sensitive skin and although I was eager to try these, I was concerned I would either end up with a horrible rash or end up with super oily skin which more often than not happens to me when I try something new. But I woke up this morning and my skin really has never felt better. It was soft, toned, fresh and really did feel tighter! The mask comes in at roughly £27 for both parts of it, but it is definitely worth it. Do that bad boy once a week and you will have skin softer than a babies bum. I promised Emily that when writing my review I would be totally honest, even if I didn't have positive things to say, but that has not been an issue at all haha. Forever Living is the new 'thing' and I really can see why - you need it in your life!
After all that glorious pampering we finished the evening with a Gin & Tonic, hideous cocktail umbrella 100% necessary.

If you would be interested in purchasing any of these products from the lovely Emily, feel free to contact me and I can pass on Emily's details to you!
